Temperley London (UK)

2013: Francine Tattoo Dress

Why it’s Heritage: The first design to feature the signature sequin-on-skin effect, introduced 10 years ago.

Gothic and ornamental — the scrollwork-style appliqué contrasts the soft tulle. Luxurious and elegant, with exquisite hand-stitched floral tattoo embroidery, adding a touch of understated and seasonless glamour.

Available in Black and Poppy Red.

2014: Toledo Dress

Why it’s Heritage: An all-time classic yet fiercely unique — momentously Alice’s first stitchwork on tulle embroidery design.

With tattoo sleeves, a nipped-in waist and contoured skirt, it stands the test of time. Delicately hand-painted folk florals in euphoric brights intertwine with baroque-influenced hand-guided stitch embroidery on the finest Italian tulle.

Available in Almond Mix and Black Mix.

2015: Tamir Dress

Why it’s Heritage: Classic shape with a Temperley twist.

Epitomising old Hollywood glamour with a louche nod to Poiret’s salons and Gatsby era parties. Showstopping drama is worn with effortless ease — hand-applied sequins on lightweight georgette evoking the silver screen, with a refined V neckline, low-cut back and slinky silhouette.

Available in Silver.

2017: Filigree Dress

Why it’s Heritage: A show-stopping golden hour gown.

Stemming from the revolutionary 1930s Dadaist mood, cascading panels of sequins create a trompe-l'œil illusion of pleats. Combined with sheer georgette silk and a halter neckline with dramatic low back, the effect is graceful, modern and sensual.

Available in Iridescent Gold and Black.

2018: Celestial Dress

Why it’s Heritage: A perfect illustration of the molten-look finish to our hand-applied sequins.

Inspired by alchemy and ancient mysticism, timelessly elegant yet dramatic; a sequined bodice cascades into animal print degrade and hand-applied crystal embellishments on lightweight georgette. Breathtaking, like liquid metal from every angle, with flared sleeves and a floor-length skirt.

Available in Iridescent Lilac, Midnight and Absinthe.

2018: Bardot Dress

Why it’s Heritage: Fusing classic and modern techniques for maximum drama.

Vintage reverie gets a modern update, with thigh-high slits, a graceful tie neckline and hand-embroidered sequin work — graduating from tiny sequins to large paillettes, giving the lightweight georgette a coruscating fluidity. Delivering mesmeric drama with timeless French Riviera glamour.

Available in Iridescent Gold.

2018: Pardus Dress

Why it’s Heritage: Combining our bold tattoo effect stitchwork with extensive artistic inspiration.

The key inspiration: Peter Beard’s illustrated travel diaries. Reflected in the fascinating fusion of Savannah leopard detailing and botanical drawings, featuring ocelots and orchids. Feminine elements contrast the bold tattoo effect, with hand-guided stitch embroidery on a soft Italian tulle.

Available in Rosewater.

2019: Talia Dress

Why it’s Heritage: Eclectic influences, showcasing signature appliqué and embroidery.

A classic Temperley fusion of inspirations — from opera set designs and the crafted drama of paper theatres to New Classicism, John William Godward’s Greek goddesses and the “paper architecture” of French 18th Century draughtsman, Jean-Jacques Lequeu. Tonal appliqué on dotted tulle represent the shadowy layers of sets, while striking sequin columns are reminiscent of gilt column mounts.

Available in Seashell.

2019: Petal Gown

Why it’s Heritage: From birds to blossoms, showcasing the brand’s intricate appliqué.

A Temperley signature: dream-like, bucolic scenes with wildflowers and trailing boughs of trees, inspired by the paintings of Victorian Neo-classicist, John William Godward. The finest invisible tulle — appliquéd swathes of shimmering sequins, hand-embroidered gilded hummingbirds, printed anemone blossom and hummingbirds, hand glided embroidery and scattered iridescent sequins, on a soft and romantic silhouette with a full tulle sleeve and skirt.

Available in Blush.

2019: Opera Tattoo and Strappy Dress

Why it’s Heritage: Eclectic influences, showcasing signature appliqué and embroidery.

A classic Temperley fusion of inspirations — from opera set designs and the crafted drama of paper theatres to neo-classical architecture, John William Godward’s Greek goddesses and the “paper architecture” of French 18th Century draughtsman, Jean-Jacques Lequeu. Tonal appliqué on dotted tulle represent the shadowy layers of sets, while striking sequin columns are reminiscent of gilt column mounts.

Both available in White Mix and Black Mix.

2021: Lucille V-Neck Dress

Why it’s Heritage: Showing influence from an eclectic collection of European artists.

Drawing from classic Art Nouveau references, such as the work of influential Czech artist Alphonse Mucha — the Lucille is our latest addition to the Heritage collection. As in Mucha’s lithographs, which regularly featured idealised female figures interweaved with floral motifs, frames of intricate hand-guided stitch embroidered blooms follow the lines of the body. Roses, camellias and foliage on soft Italian tulle panelling, with tulle cape sleeves, a flowing maxi skirt and cut-out neck: a romantic vision.

Available in Frost Blue, Cameo Pink and Black.

From 2013 through to today, and beyond.

An early promoter of slow fashion, Alice's dresses are made to last. From carefully chosen quality fabrications, to artisanal techniques and new technologies, these were destined to be designs that never go out of style.
