Founded at the turn of the millennium, Temperley London has carved a niche for itself over the intervening 22 years. With a unique blend of British eccentricity, a strong signature aesthetic, ethos and bohemian spirit, and an iconic tribe of muses, the independent brand has reached almost heritage status.

Rooted in Somerset yet with global appeal, beauty and respect for nature is at the heart, pioneering in its commitment to responsible practices.

Launching her eponymous brand just a year after graduating from the Royal College of Art, Alice Temperley MBE continues at the helm as creative director, pushing boundaries and defying expectations, while collaborating with leading designers on capsule collections, and continuing to grow the company and its loyal customer base.

Partnering with like-minded brands, which share the Temperley ethos — the core values of design, craftsmanship and quality, allows us to share expertise and offer exciting new categories, such as our interiors partnership with Romo.

In 2006, Temperley Bridal was launched, known for its timeless silhouettes, intricate embellishment and the exquisite craftsmanship that unites Alice’s creations.

Now in the third decade of business, having ridden the waves of change that has altered the fabric of the retail world, the brand has standalone stores across the world. The headquarters and flagship store in Ilminster, Somerset, Phoenix Studios, is home to the Bridal boutique, design atelier and our exclusive brand outlet, as well as Ready-To-Wear in Chelsea, London and Dubai.

In July 2023, Temperley announced a significant change to the business model, ceasing all promotions to bring it more in-line with its championing of slow fashion, commitment to responsibility and respect for garments. Encouraging rewearing and repairing, cherishing and treasuring the timeless styles that can take years to create.

Replacing the typical trading calendar, small batch production runs will drop alongside our Archive and Heritage collections, giving the talented team more creative liberation to design while honouring the skilled hand-work and artisanal craft.

In 2011, Alice was awarded an MBE for services to the Fashion Industry. As a member of the British Fashion Council Advisory Board, she enjoys speaking at key industry events and supporting emerging designers. She is also involved with several charitable organisations — as Ambassador for Women for Women International, she raises funds through sample sales and dress auctions to help female survivors of war rebuild their lives.

Described by American Vogue as the designer making the biggest waves in British fashion in 2006, Temperley has won many prestigious awards over the years, including English Print Designer of the Year at Indigo, ELLE's Best Young Designer of the Year Award and Designer of The Year at the Hollywood Style Awards.

The brand has garnered an almost impossibly starry following, including Madonna, Beyoncé, Penelope Cruz, Thandiwe Newton, Kate Middleton, Eva Mendes, Halle Berry, Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie.

Alice has created an iconic wonderland, an inspirational lifestyle, a dreamworld to lose oneself in — a playful fusion of influences realised as elegantly modern designs for vivacious women with an insatiable curiosity for life and sense of adventure. Those who navigate their lives, powered by a strong sense of self, finding fluidity in flux.

Known for intricately embroidered floor-sweeping gowns, sharply tailored three-piece suits, trademark knitwear and immaculately cut separates — crafted from the best quality fabrics and perfectly finished.
