Colours, proportions and design elements work together to create a vision of the Temperley woman for Autumn 18. Relaxed, modern yet full of femininity, the collection celebrates a free-spirited, adventurous woman who dreams of a journey into the wild.
The mixed media diaries of renowned photographer Peter Beard provided rich visual references - the scenes he captured through his lens and the physical oddities of his scrapbook are re-interpreted in a variety of mediums throughout the collection.
Daywear silhouettes are accented with colourful geometric embroidery inspired by ancient Tibetan Tiger rugs; a motif seen throughout the collection. Soft, utilitarian cotton drill tailoring inspired by the courageous female explorers of the 20th century showcase a new attitude to daywear with oversized blazers, exaggerated lapels and cropped pants. Ruffles, godets and belted waists define the silhouettes of the season.
A slim fitting asymmetric dress alongside jacquard knit separates with hand finished cut outs on hems and cuffs showcase the innovative direction of the knitwear offering.
An earthy colour palette of saffron, savannah, pecan, dark olive, camel and turmeric is frequently punctuated by unexpected punches of hollyhock, acid green, vermillion and scarlet.
Prints and embroideries alike celebrate the beauty of nature and all that inhabit it. Leopard spots merge and dissolve with geometric tribal borders and botanical elements whilst oversized patterns borrowed from animals and insects are interpreted on Italian metallic filcoupe organza and fluid hammered silk satin.
Hand applied shimmering crystals; all over sequins and graphic mirrored perspex decorate floor sweeping gowns, cropped jumpsuits and asymmetrical necklines. Autumn 18 eveningwear offers enduring pieces that emphasise craftsmanship and detail.
