The Spring 19 woman has evolved effortlessly from the Autumn and Winter collections. This season is a homage to the trailblazing women who competed shoulder to shoulder with men on the legendary racing tracks of the Le Mans, Monaco and Broadlands in the Thirties and Forties. Adding glamour and style amongst the oil and grime of motor racing, but most importantly defying convention to not only drive racing cars but compete with men on equal terms.

The exploration of metamorphosis and symmetry by the 20th century artist M C Escher, combined with feminine florals and graphic motifs borrowed from the tracks and vehicles that raced on them provide the framework for the prints and embroideries this season. Tessellated checks and stars, tyre treads and arrows in varying scales and mediums morph seamlessly into delicate meadow flowers; a playful interpretation of masculine and feminine elements.

Suiting is louche and modern with lightly structured double-breasted jackets and wide leg trousers. A variety of separates offer a mix and match assortment; fluid high waisted trousers, tie shirts cinched at the waist and satin back crepe co-ords designed to be worn together, but work equally well apart.

Bias cut dresses, a nod to the graceful elegance of the 1930’s, skim over the feminine form. The racing theme extends into soft merino wool with hand knit intarsias and luxurious jacquards. Knitwear takes a more tailored direction, with inspiration from vintage sportwear.

The Spring colour palette reflects the hues of vintage motor racing posters and the overalls of this seasons heroines with racing greens, pale pistachio and emerald alongside bluebell, crystal, icicle and indigo interspersed with pops of ultra violet, clementine and crimson.

Prints and embroideries alike celebrate the beauty of nature and all that inhabit it. Leopard spots merge and dissolve with geometric tribal borders and botanical elements whilst oversized patterns borrowed from animals and insects are interpreted on Italian metallic filcoupe organza and fluid hammered silk satin.

This relaxed, decorative opulence culminates in the eveningwear; diaphanous silhouettes, shimmering sequins, crystals and Italian metallic fil coupe.
