REPORTS TO:   Head of Product Development

Description: We are looking for a Garment Technologist to ensure Temperley London’s objectives with regards to fit, technical quality and standards of manufacture are being successfully met.


  • Responsible for the final sign off on fit, construction and quality of product, ensuring the collection meets both the company standards and customer expectations of manufacture within the luxury market.

  • Accurate measurement and preparation of samples prior to PP fit meeting.

  • Schedule and lead PP fitting sessions alongside the PD, design and production team.

  • Process detailed manufacturing comments relaying fitting and construction feedback to the factories.

  • Discuss and action any pattern changes with our studio team.

  • Signing off the graded technical specifications, ensuring fit is in line with Temperley’s agreed standard measurements.

  • Quality Assurance through identification and management of anticipated quality control challenges and implementation of appropriate solutions.

  • Work alongside Head of PD to ensure styles are sealed within the agreed timescales of the critical path.

  • Factory visits where possible to provide clear handover of technical specification packs/sealed PP samples prior to production commencing, ensuring all fit and quality standards are understood and maintained.

  • Providing daily technical support to suppliers’ post PP sign off, liaising directly with the studio team to solve any pattern queries. 

  • Casting and booking fit models and maintaining up to date measurements prior to each fit meeting.

  • Working closely with production to ensure labelling reflects accurate garment care instructions and fabric compositions.

  • Provide support and knowledge to the production team and QC as and when manufacturing issues that arise

  • Regular assessment of customer feedback and returns specifically applicable to fit and quality, identifying potential improvements and putting into action follow up and if necessary technical investigations.

  • Awareness of new technique developments within the luxury market and carrying out store research each season to analyse new finishing’s, fabrics and trims being used.

Experience and Skills: 

    • Strong technical knowledge of patterns, garment construction and fit.

    • 3 + years professional experience as a garment technologist at a luxury or premium brand.

    • Excellent communication skills to liaise with the internal team and suppliers.

    • Detailed knowledge of grading.

    • A practical knowledge and experience of garment fitting, quality and performance.

    • Clear understanding and knowledge of working to a critical path.

    • Efficient and highly organized

    • Excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to problem solve, and communicate with both immediate team and other departments to effect solutions.

    • Strong verbal & written communication skills and technical terminology.

    • Able to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines; working well on own initiative and as part of a close team.
