Fabric Co-ordinator

TITLE:                   Fabric Co-ordinator

REPORTS TO:      SVP Product Development & Production

Overall Purpose:

To ensure accurate and timely ordering and co-ordination of fabric & trims throughout the sampling (SMS) and bulk process.


• Ordering predominantly classic silk fabrics, new European fabrics, leather and trims while observing a budget

• Responsible for negotiating bulk fabric prices and deliveries

• Re-sourcing where necessary for price point/quality etc

• Perform practical fabric tests and request and review mills data sheets to ensure standards are within company tolerances on all fabrics purchased

• Assess and trouble shoot potential risks and technical issues

• Create and maintain an archive/library of fabrics and trims, supplied by mills and factories

• Responsible for inputting and updating all fabric and trim details into integrated software system (Prima and Excel) on a weekly basis (including deliveries, supplier colour’s, composition, fabric width etc.) 

• Run regular budget reports to monitor spend against budget targets

• Ensure that all communication is shared with relevant PD and Production team on fabric orders and delivery to facilitate the smooth running of each process

• Responsible for chasing mills and trim manufactures for deliveries 

• Ensure fabric and trims arrive in accordance with the Critical Path

• Coordinate and realize printed fabric production (from final sampling lengths to bulk)

• Co-ordinate colour lab dip approval (with design) and ensure colour continuity throughout collection

• Inventory management – Up to date library of stock held at suppliers/warehouse and visibility on this each season for Design and Off-price business

• Liaise and coordinate with fully/partially factored factories to ensure the high quality standards of our company are met

• Travel to relevant trade shows when necessary

• Any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager or Head of Department

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Knowledgeable of a broad range of fabrics as well as mills in Europe, Far East and India

Discerning in quality of fabric, leather and trims 

Proficient in Excel, power point and other computer programs

Highly organized and able to pre-empt and trouble shoot risks or technical issues

Detail Orientated

Effective communicator (in representing the company as well as with colleagues)

Able to work well in a team environment

Able to manage and work within a budget

Reliable and well presented
