Alice Temperley Ambassador to Women for Women International
Last Thursday night Alice Temperley hosted a drinks party at the Mayfair flagship store to officially announce her new role as Ambassador to Women for Women International.
The event co-hosted by Women for Women International's Executive Director Brita Fernandez Schmidt, marked the official launch of the collaboration and celebrated Alice's new role and exciting plans for her partnership with the charity that helps women survivors of war to not just survive but to thrive.
As part of her ambassadorship, Alice Temperley is sponsoring a woman in Kosovo through WfWI’s transformative one-year training programme. Her ’sister’ will enrol in a class of 25 women later this month, and begin the regular training sessions designed to provide the tools she needs to break the cycle of poverty and isolation, for good. This will include vocational and business skills to earn an income, as well as a practical understanding of her health and rights, so she can make informed decisions for herself and her family. Women also build strong support networks that provide an emotional and economic lifeline – graduates in Kosovo have formed textile and sewing cooperatives for example. Alice Temperley will assist and mentor her ’sister’ during her enrolment in the class, providing her with support and monitoring her progress. On graduation, she will receive support and tools to set up her own business or join a co-operative organisation.
“It is a great honour for me to be named as an Ambassador to this fantastic organisation. I am very inspired by the people behind it and the dedication and support they have put in to teaching women how to survive in the toughest environments. I am happy to help and support in anyway, to make life changing differences to women around the world whose situation is often unimaginable to the western world “Alice Temperley MBE
