Garment Technologist

Reports to: SVP of Product Development

Overall Purpose:

As the Garment Technologist you will effectively support a busy Product Development department with all processes related to quality and fit.  You will be responsible for ensuring that all quality standards are adhered to by evaluating initial samples through to production stage. 

Responsibilities:

Ensure garments (woven, knit & jersey) adhere to our standards of quality and sizing  specifications from development through to production stage

Measure samples and update specs from salesman sample stage to bulk shipment stage

Attend and record regular fit meetings results for each garment into an organized format 

Bulk trim testing and approval

Create technical and grade specifications

Approve grade specifications for production

Write feedback and approve sealing samples 

Update any final changes for production

Conduct and compile wearer trial tests

Consult with production team regarding feedback for pre-production and production samples

Liaise with factories over quality control issues

Together with design and product development ensure standards of size, fit and construction are maintained to specification and consistent across collection 

Experience:

Essential:

3+ years’ experience in a similar role is essential

Knowledge of construction & manufacturing methods in a high end manufacturing is essential

Excellent communication and organizational skills are required in order to liaise effectively with other departments and suppliers.

Able to operate in a dynamic, pressurized environment where team play is paramount, but also be able to work well on your own initiative

Be hard working, highly organized, motivated and dedicated 

Capable of concise analysis and solutions to problems and remain flexible

You will need to have a strong technical background with a proven track record in developing technical standards and dealing with a variety of technical issues

You must have a good eye for detail in order to ensure that this range is produced to a high standard

Must have great computer skills and good knowledge of MS Office software (specifically excel) is essential

Desirable:

knowledge of Gerber pattern system

the role may involve all QA and pre-production responsibilities
